Jamaica Youth Chorale to Showcase Eclectic Repertoire in Montego Bay and the DMV Area for Easter Celebrations
The Jamaica Youth Chorale (JYC) is set to spread the message of ‘Amazing Love’ through a series of performances in Montego Bay and the DMV area in the United States this Easter season. The eclectic repertoire, featuring compositions from Jamaican and American composers, will be showcased as part of the group’s 15th-anniversary celebrations.
Led by founder and conductor Greg Simms, the JYC will collaborate with members of the Jamaican Diaspora and distinguished musical individuals in the US, including renowned music educator Rev Dr Emory Andrews and soprano Anika Sampson-Anderson. The performances will be free and open to the public, allowing audiences to experience the group’s powerful message of love and light.
The Easter season kicks off with a performance at the Calvary Baptist Church in Montego Bay on March 24, followed by concerts at the historic Shiloh Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and the Episcopal Church of St Michael and All Angels Church in Baltimore, Maryland. The choir will also participate in Good Friday reflections and Sabbath worship at various churches in Washington, DC.
In addition to their performances, the JYC will engage in an educational and cultural exchange with students at Takoma Academy in Maryland, further enriching their experience in the US. This visit comes after a successful series of performances in the US last year, where the group received critical acclaim for their renditions of redemption songs.
As the JYC continues to inspire and uplift audiences with their music, their Easter performances promise to be a celebration of faith, love, and unity across borders. Don’t miss the chance to witness the magic of the Jamaica Youth Chorale this Easter season.
