DMV AllSkate Social Not Cited for Additional Violations Following Controversial Event
DMV AllSkate Social, a popular roller skating rink in Temple Hills, Maryland, has recently come under fire for hosting an event that featured adult entertainment-style dancing and strippers. The event, known as “Sexy -N- Skate,” was promoted on social media and drew attention for its controversial content.
The owners of DMV AllSkate Social were cited by Prince George’s County’s Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement Division for allegedly violating their county use and occupancy permit. The event, which took place on April 1 and required tickets for entry, featured a cash bar and VIP tables. Videos posted online showed women on skates performing provocative dances as attendees threw money onto the rink floor.
Ed Burroughs, a County Councilmember representing Temple Hills, expressed concern over promoters staging events in residential areas or businesses without proper permits. He emphasized the impact of such events on the community’s quality of life, citing noise, litter, and other disturbances.
Despite the citation issued to DMV AllSkate Social, the venue has not been cited for any additional violations in the aftermath of the controversial event. The owners of the skating rink and the event promoters declined to comment on the situation.
The incident has sparked outrage among members of the skating community, with one skater, Marsha Wolley, expressing disappointment in the venue’s handling of the event. Wolley, who was grazed by a bullet fragment during an unrelated shooting at the rink in February, criticized the presence of strippers at a skating event, stating that it has tarnished the skating experience for many.
Local authorities have been working to address the issue of unauthorized events and parties in the area, with efforts to enforce use and occupancy regulations and hold property owners and businesses accountable for violations. The community is calling for stricter enforcement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
As the investigation continues, residents and skaters are hopeful that steps will be taken to ensure the safety and integrity of entertainment venues in Prince George’s County. The controversy surrounding DMV AllSkate Social serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding regulations and standards in the community.
