Penn State Men’s Hockey to Participate in Capital Hockey Classic in December
The Penn State men’s hockey team is gearing up for an exciting event in December as they prepare to participate in the Capital Hockey Classic in Washington, D.C. The Nittany Lions will face off against Army in a doubleheader at Capital One Arena on Dec. 12, leading up to the annual Army-Navy football game on Dec. 14.
Last season, Penn State pulled off an impressive comeback victory against Army, overcoming a four-goal deficit to win 7-6. Head coach Guy Gadowsky expressed his excitement about being part of the first-ever Capital Hockey Classic, highlighting the opportunity to showcase the team’s talent in a new area with a large alumni base.
Monumental Sports & Entertainment, the organization behind the Washington Capitals and Capital One Arena, is producing the event. Jim Van Stone, MSE’s president of business operations and chief commercial officer, emphasized the significance of hosting college hockey at Capital One Arena, especially ahead of the iconic Army-Navy football game.
Penn State men’s hockey, entering its 13th season as a varsity sport in 2024, has a strong track record with two Big Ten titles and multiple NCAA Tournament appearances.
