Dan Snyder Confirmed as Owner of Most Expensive Home in DMV Area
Dan Snyder, the owner of the Washington Commanders, has reportedly purchased the most expensive home ever sold in the DMV area. The River View Estate, located near George Washington’s Mount Vernon in Virginia, was bought by Snyder for a whopping $48 million on Nov. 1.
Speculation about Snyder owning the 16.5-acre property had been circulating, but it was confirmed after he made a $25,000 donation to Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s inaugural committee, which listed his address as East Boulevard Drive. This makes Snyder the fifth owner of the luxurious estate, which was originally listed for $60 million.
Before Snyder’s purchase, the record for the most expensive home sold in Virginia was held by AOL co-founder Jim Kimsey, who sold his property for $3 million less than Snyder’s mansion.
Described by the Washington Business Journal as a lavish property with unspoiled Potomac River frontage, the River View Estate boasts a 16,000-square-foot main home with seven bedrooms, eight full baths, and several half baths. The property also includes a carriage home, a library, game room, gym, spa, home theater, and more, all fully automated.
With a net worth estimated at $4 billion, Snyder is listed as the 281st richest American by Forbes. In addition to his new estate, he still owns a 30,000 square-foot mansion in Potomac and a 300-foot yacht named Lady S.
The news of Snyder’s purchase comes amidst controversy surrounding sexual harassment allegations and a toxic work environment for employees within the Washington Commanders organization.
