Nearly 20 years after his breakout role as Troy Bolton in Disney’s High School Musical, Zac Efron is still proud of one particular scene from the hit movie. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Efron revisited the iconic “Get’cha Head in the Game” basketball sequence from the 2006 film.
Efron revealed that he and his cast mates had limited rehearsal time for the scene, as High School Musical was just a made-for-TV movie with a condensed shooting schedule. Despite the challenges, Efron and his fellow actors managed to pull off the scene in just a few takes.
The actor shared that they only practiced for two days prior to shooting the scene and had short rehearsals with basketballs. However, after five takes, they nailed it and Efron described it as a “really special moment.”
High School Musical not only helped launch Efron to stardom but also sparked an entire franchise. The movie was followed by two sequels and a spin-off series. Efron returned for the sequels but did not appear in the spin-off.
