The Reason GTA 5’s DLCs, Including “Agent Trevor,” Didn’t Work Out: GTA Online’s Impact
The highly anticipated DLC content for Grand Theft Auto 5, including the intriguing “Agent Trevor” storyline, never saw the light of day, much to the disappointment of fans. However, new revelations from a developer shed light on the reason behind the cancellation of these DLCs.
In a recent interview with senior camera artist and virtual cinematographer Joseph Rubino, it was revealed that the success of GTA Online played a significant role in the decision to scrap the DLC content. Rubino explained that the overwhelming popularity and financial success of GTA Online made it difficult to justify the release of standalone DLCs, such as the Agent Trevor storyline.
Despite being halfway completed at the time of cancellation, the DLC content for Agent Trevor never made it to the game. However, Rubino mentioned that elements of this storyline were incorporated into later iterations of GTA Online, ensuring that the work put into the DLC was not entirely wasted.
Fans of the franchise may be disappointed by the missed opportunity to explore the intriguing Agent Trevor storyline, but the success of GTA Online ultimately dictated the fate of these DLCs. It remains to be seen if Rockstar Games will revisit these canceled DLCs in the future, but for now, players can continue to enjoy the thriving world of GTA Online.
