NORAD F-16 Planes Authorized to Travel at Supersonic Speeds to Intercept Unresponsive Cessna Plane
NORAD F-16 planes were authorized to travel at “supersonic speeds” to catch up to a Cessna plane with an unresponsive pilot, resulting in a loud boom heard across the D.C. area. The unresponsive Cessna 560 Citation V aircraft eventually crashed in Virginia, with no survivors found. The plane was registered to Encore Motors of Melbourne Inc., and was carrying the company owner’s daughter, granddaughter, nanny, and pilot. The cause of the unresponsiveness and crash is still under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board. The Capitol was briefly placed on an “elevated alert” due to the flight activity, but no changes were made to the president’s protection details. Witnesses reported feeling the sonic boom, which shook their homes. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
