2022 Holiday SoberRide Program Offers Safe Rides During Holiday Season
The 2022 Holiday SoberRide program is back to keep drivers safe during the festive season. Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) is once again offering their SoberRide program to combat drunk driving during the holidays.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly half of all U.S. traffic deaths involve drunk drivers, with a significant percentage occurring on Christmas and New Year’s Day. To address this issue, WRAP will be providing safe rides to would-be drunk drivers in the DMV area from December 16, 2022, to January 1, 2023.
The program will operate nightly from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., allowing people aged 21 and older celebrating with alcohol to download Lyft and enter a SoberRide® code in the app’s promo section to receive a no-cost, up to $15, safe ride home. Last December, 461 people in the area used this service instead of driving home impaired.
Since 1991, WRAP’s SoberRide program has provided 83,678 free safe rides home in the Greater Washington area. Lyft is proud to partner with WRAP to offer this alternative to impaired driving and promote community safety during the holiday season.
SoberRide® is available throughout Lyft’s Washington D.C. coverage area, including parts of Maryland and Northern Virginia. For more information about WRAP’s SoberRide® initiative, visit www.SoberRide.com.
Stay safe this holiday season and avoid impaired driving by taking advantage of the SoberRide program. Let’s all work together to keep our roads safe during this festive time of year.
