Voice of Baceprot to Make History as First Indonesian Group to Perform at 2024 Glastonbury Festival
The Indonesian metal group Voice of Baceprot, also known as VoB, is set to make history as the first Indonesian group to rock the stage of the prestigious 2024 Glastonbury Festival at the Woodsies Stage in the UK. Comprising Firda Marsya Kurnia on guitar and vocals, Widi Rahmawati on bass, and Euis Siti Aisyah on drums, VoB plans to showcase Indonesian culture by incorporating Sundanese instruments into their performance on June 28.
“It is an honor to be the first Indonesian musician to perform at the Glastonbury Festival after 54 years, coinciding with the 75th celebrations of Indonesia’s diplomatic relations with the United Kingdom,” wrote Voice of Baceprot on Instagram.
The 2024 Glastonbury Festival, held at Worthy Farm in Pilton-Somerset, UK, is one of the world’s biggest music festivals featuring headliners such as Avril Lavigne, Dua Lipa, and Coldplay. Voice of Baceprot will share the stage with renowned acts like Gossip and Jamie xx.
VoB has gained international recognition through their successful US tour in 2023 and European tour in 2022. They have collaborated with German DJ Andre Winter and received praise from music icons like Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine.
Additionally, Voice of Baceprot was featured on the cover of NME, a popular music and pop culture magazine in the UK, during their first tour to the United States. Their journey from playing covers in their rural hometown to becoming prominent metal musicians has been highlighted by NME.
As VoB continues to make waves in the music industry, their upcoming performance at the 2024 Glastonbury Festival is sure to be a groundbreaking moment for Indonesian music on the global stage.
