Kahlil Greene Nominated for Children’s and Family Emmy Award for Nick News
Nick News, the beloved children’s news program, is making a comeback with a familiar face at the helm. Kahlil Greene, a Germantown native and known as the “Gen-Z Historian,” has been nominated for a Children’s and Family Emmy Award for Best Non-Fiction Program for his work as co-host and correspondent on the show.
Originally airing from 1992-2015, Nick News was a groundbreaking program that tackled important social, political, and economic issues in a format accessible to both children and adults. The show was revived in 2020, with Greene joining the team in February of this year.
Greene, who was born at Holy Cross Hospital and attended schools in Germantown before going on to Yale University, credits the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington, specifically the Germantown branch, for playing a significant role in his childhood. He now advocates for the program and its impact on youth.
With over 600,000 followers and 20 million views across his social media platforms, Greene is a recognized digital educator and influencer. He has authored op-eds for major publications and is known for his TikTok series, Hidden History, which explores stories of American injustice.
As a self-employed speaker and educator, Greene’s main goal is to share knowledge about history, culture, and politics from a fresh and engaging perspective. His work on Nick News has been praised for its ability to educate and inspire young viewers, earning the show a well-deserved Emmy nomination.
