Angel Reese, a rising star in women’s basketball, is expanding her impact beyond the court as she joins the ownership group of the new women’s soccer team, DC Power Football Club. At just 22 years old, Reese is now a soccer team owner with dreams of owning a WNBA team in the future.
DC Power FC will be one of eight teams in the inaugural season of the USL Super League, set to kick off in August 2024. The team has been granted Division I status by U.S. Soccer, putting them on par with the National Women’s Soccer League.
Reese, who hails from the Baltimore area, expressed her excitement about the opportunity to be part of the ownership group of DC Power FC. She emphasized her desire to impact sports beyond just basketball and to provide opportunities for young Black women in the industry.
In addition to her involvement with DC Power FC, Reese revealed her aspirations to own her own WNBA team in the future. She sees this venture as a way to inspire more women to take ownership in the sports world.
The ownership group of DC Power FC includes other notable figures in the sports industry, such as Jordan Stuart and Devin Talbott. Jason Levien, CEO of D.C. United, welcomed Reese to the group and praised her commitment to positive change in women’s sports.
