Water Main Break in Arlington Impacts 500 Customers and Schools

The Arlington Department of Environmental Services has issued a boil water advisory and closed S. Walter Reed Drive northbound lanes due to a water main break near the intersection of S. Four Mile Run Drive and S. Walter Reed Drive. This incident has affected around 500 customers, with most having their water pressure restored by 2:30 p.m. However, a boil water advisory remains in effect until Sunday morning as a precaution.

As a result of the water main break, nine Arlington Public Schools are closed on Friday, while three others dismissed early. The cause of the break is still under investigation, and both northbound and southbound lanes on S. Walter Reed Drive are closed for repairs.
